FSPs participate in Music for Lent workshop

Several Daughters of St. Paul joined other music ministers and choir members from the Archdiocese of Manila and the Dioceses of Cubao, Novaliches, Caloocan, Pasig, Parañaque, and even from as far as Pampanga and Masbate in a one-day liturgical workshop entitled “Behold the Cross, Music for Lent” on February 13, 2016 at Fr. Moraleda Hall, Institute for Consecrated Life in Asia (ICLA). Renowned Jesuit composer Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ conducted the said workshop with the assistance of the Bukas Palad Ministry. Fr. Manoling, who is a professor at Loyola School of Theology, significantly gave a profound and valuable input on spiritually during Lent. He also pointed out what may be some misconceptions and perversions, underlying for example severe practices of penance during Lent; hence, these need to be clarified and rectified. To create an atmosphere that will help the people enter into the true spirit of the season, he then emphasized the proper choice of songs and hymns for the various Lenten liturgical celebrations which peak during the Holy Week especially in the Easter Triduum.

This is the third liturgical workshop organized by the Asian Catholic Communicators, Inc (ACCI) of which the Paulines Publishing House is a member.
