Pilgrimage to the Jubilee Churches

Pope Francis in his Bull of Indiction for the Jubilee Year wrote, “ The practice of pilgrimage has a special place in the Holy Year, because it represents the journey each of us makes in this life. Life itself is a pilgrimage, and the human being is a viator, a pilgrim traveling along the road, making his way to the desired destination. Similarly, to reach the Holy Door in Rome or in any other place in the world, everyone, each according to his or her ability, will have to make a pilgrimage. This will be a sign that mercy is also a goal to reach and requires dedication and sacrifice. May pilgrimage be an impetus to conversion: by crossing the threshold of the Holy Door, we will find strength to embrace God’s mercy and dedicate ourselves to being merciful with others as the Father has been with us.”

The Provincial Government, Divin Maestro Group, and some sisters from the branch houses visited the five designated Jubilee churches in the Archdiocese of Manila: Manila Cathedral (Manila), National Shrine of the Sacred Heart (Makati), Archdiocesan Shrine of the Divine Mercy (Mandaluyong), Santuario de Santo Cristo (San Juan), Our Lady of Sorrows Parish (Pasay) during their pilgrimage in the month of April.

At the beginning of the pilgrimage in any of the Jubilee churches, each pilgrim is given a PILGRIM’S PASSPORT. This PASSPORT contains the activities that each pilgrim needs to fulfill in visiting each Jubilee Church. The PILGRIM’S PASSPORT is stamped at each church. After completing the pilgrimage to all the five churches, a Certificate is given to each pilgrim.

The Ongoing Formation & Commission on Spirituality are organizing a pilgrimage to the Jubilee Churches after each batch of the Annual Retreat to give the sisters, especially those coming from the branch houses, the opportunity to join the pilgrimage and as one of the activities to meaningfully celebrate the great Jubilee of Mercy.
