1. God’s Communication: An Introduction to the Bible – A study of the Bible’s basic
background, starting with the proper disposition in approaching it; then centering on its
historical and literary background, making these personally relevant with the use of group
dynamics; and concluding the study with group activities, such as differentiating Bible
study from Bible sharing. January 26 – February 23, 2019

2. Media Spirituality – A study of Theology of Communication and the use of media
technology for spiritual development. July 13 – August 10, 2019

3. Media Literacy in Popular Music – A study of the language of music and its
application in interpreting music composition, historical overview of popular music
industry, functional knowledge of music composition and recording—all as background
for analysis and evaluation of popular music from cultural and moral perspectives.
August 31 – September 28, 2019

4. Culture of Communication – A study of the evolving media culture beyond
boundaries of race and nation; media environment today and its impact on individual,
family and society. October 19-26 & November 9-23, 2019

5. Producing and Managing Television Programs – A study of the concepts and
principles of producing and managing television programs and its application from a
catholic perspective through skills training in planning, script writing, recording and
broadcasting. May 18-June 15, 2019

6. Communication Theories – A study of the different theories of mass media and new
communication technology and its application in interpreting research and media text
analysis.

7. Media Literacy Education in Radio – A study of the language of radio broadcast and
its application in reading radio texts from producer’s and listener’s perspectives; historical overview of radio broadcast industry; functional knowledge of radio
production; all as background for analysis and evaluation of radio programs.

8. Media Literacy Education in Newspaper and Magazine – A study of semiotics and
other tools of analysis, its application in reading print and online media texts; functional
knowledge of newspaper and magazine print and online publishing; historical overview
of the industry; all as background for analysis and evaluation of newspaper and magazine
contents.

9. Media Literacy Education in Internet – A study of the language of Internet,
historical development of multi-media, area of coverage worldwide, penetration in Asia
and Philippines, beneficial use and adverse effects.

10. St. Paul Communicates God’s Vision of World’s Transformation – St. Paul has
been entrusted not only with the story of Jesus of Nazareth, Israel’s Messiah, but with the
story of how the God of the universe intends to transform the world through the passion,
death and resurrection of this Jewish Messiah. What St. Paul has to tell us about our role
in this divine project of transformation is a message we must urgently hear.

11. Communication Research – A study of the different methods and tools of media
research and its application in doing a research paper.

12. Media Literacy Education in Advertising – A study of semiotics and other tools of
analysis and its application in reading the different forms of advertising texts; concepts
and principles of advertising practices; ethics in advertising—all as background for
analysis and evaluation from moral and Christian perspectives.

13. Media Literacy Education in Television – A study of the language of television and
its application in reading TV media text from cultural perspectives; functional knowledge
of TV production; all as background for analysis and evaluation of TV programs based
on moral and Christian values.

14. Media Literacy Education in Film – A study of the language of Film and its
application in reading movie as media text from the director’s and viewer’s perspectives;
functional knowledge of film production, an overview of movie industry; all as
background for analysis and evaluation of different film genre based on moral and
Gospel values.

15. Pastoral Communication Plan and Organizational Development – A study of the
concepts and principles of communication plan and its application, strategic management,
human resource management, leadership, resource mobilization, social marketing and
conflict management—all in the context of Pastoral Ministry.

16. Producing and Managing Radio Programs – A study of the concepts and principles
of producing and managing radio programs and its application from a catholic
perspective through skills training in planning, scriptwriting, recording and broadcasting.

17. Producing and Managing Diocesan/Parish/School Newspaper/Bulletin – A study
of the concepts and principles of producing and managing community
newspaper/bulleting and its application from a catholic perspective through skills training
in planning, news and feature writing, layout designing for print and online publishing.
