A five-consecutive Saturdays modular course on the study of semiotics and other tools of analysis, its application in reading print media texts; functional knowledge of newspaper and magazine publishing; historical overview of the industry; all as background for analysis and evaluation of newspaper and magazine contents. Distance education is offered but students are required to attend class on the first and fifth Saturday. This is one of the sixteen modules offered by PICA in its MA program on Media Literacy Education.
