Daughters of Saint Paul

2nd National Congress of the Clergy

Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap, theologian and preacher to the Pope and members of the Papal household was the preacher to a gathering of more than 5,700 priests for the Second National Congress of the Clergy held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City on January 25-29, 2010. With the theme “Faithfulness of Christ, Faithfulness of Priests“, the Congress aimed to bring the clergy to a deepening of their pastoral commitment through interior renewal.

Paulines Audiovisuals, through Sr. Mennen Alarcon and staff, documented all the talks of Fr. Cantalamessa (Exhortations of Fr. Cantalamessa) and Bishop Luis Tagle (Pastoral Challenges). The talks in CDs were made available the following day.  Through book exhibit, the Daughters of St. Paul made available to the participants books on the Life of St. John Mary Vianney, on spirituality, homiletics and formation.

Fr. Cantalamessa also gave talks to the laity and the religious at the Araneta Coliseum on January 28, 2010. He spoke on The Relationship between the Clergy and Laity and Marriage and Family According to the Bible. He pointed out the important mission of every baptized Christian, which is evangelization, and the laity’s participation in the priesthood of Christ as outlined in Christifidelis Laici (Lay Members of Christ’s Faithful People).
