by Sr. Clothilde de las Llagas, FSP After thirty weeks of “Basic Education & Media Literacy” course, forty seven (47), Out-of-School Youth (OSY) in Pasay City, received certificates for having attended regularly and completed the requirements of the program fom May 15 to December 12, 2010 at Paulines Institute of Communication in Asia (PICA). Forty-six (46 ), who were not able to take the Alternative Learning System (ALS) test but joined the program on an irregular basis were given a simple recognition and were part of the closing program. Deserving participants also received special awards such as: “Most Diligent student(s)”, “Best in English”, and “Best in Math.” The Closing Program was attended by the participants coming from the different parishes of Pasay City. Some of the adult learners from Lipa City joined the event. The Out of School Youth expressed their gratitude to Sr. Yolanda Dionisio, the Provincial Superior, Sr. Clothilde de las Llagas, the Coordinator of the Program, Media Literacy Education for Out of School Youth and the teachers who were present during the ceremony. The Basic Education and Media Literacy for Out of School Youth is a short term, time-bound program which integrates Media Literacy activities with a mix of non-formal education. This is PICA’s contribution to society and to the Chistian community to have a brighter future.
