Sisters Ellen Lim, Mennen Alarcon, and Teresina Kim, attended a 3-day Film and Sacraments Seminar given by Fr. Peter Malone, MSC at Communications Foundation for Asia on January 13-15, 2011. The nature of the seminar is highly visual and scriptural in as much as it involves empowering the participants the skill to analyze the spiritual aspect of films in connection with the seven sacraments and in relation to the Scriptures. Viewing film clips and full length movies enhanced the deep treatment of the topics which include; Religion through stories and images, Theology as a fine art, Jesus and the Sacraments, Sacramental symbols of water, bread, wine, eating, tending the ill, Scripture on; Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance and Reconciliation, Annointing, Holy Orders and Marriage. In approaching the Sacraments through films, Fr. Malone underlined, that spiritual sacramental experience is one dimension of our life and Film is an effective tool to bring an issue to the open. The 57 participants include priests, sisters, teachers, catechists and lay leaders.
