Many years ago, Camanlangan, Davao del Norte was known for the mining industry in Davao. People from different parts of the Philippines gathered in this area to improve their lives through mining. Now that the industry has stopped, the resources of the land completely depleted, the residents earn their living through what they call “carabao mining.” This means that the people try to manually dig from the mountains whatever precious/valuable stone they can get in order to live. The parish priest upon hearing about our project “Biblia sa Bawat Pamilya” invited the Daughters of St. Paul in Davao to make their mission in his area last Feb. 7, 2014. More than 200 families came for 6-hour bible seminar and they gladly received their copies of the Bible in Visaya, the local language. |
Sr. Elpidia Bagol and Sr. Federica Dalaguit were assisted by the Pauline lay mission partners from the Media Center and a Pauline cooperator. Everyone and most of all the parish priest was very grateful for the visit. This was because the sisters’ visit coincided with his project to visit all the parishioners, bless their homes and ensure that there are no pornographic materials. Most of all, he wanted that the Bibles be enthroned in their homes.
