TACLOBAN: La Mesa ni Marta at Eastertime

La Mesa ni Marta is one of the programs of the Archdiocese of Palo in this Year for the Poor, and it consists of offering free breakfast to poor families every Sunday.  The Paulines not only offered food for the body but also nourishment for the mind and spirit. Sr. Gemma Ria Dela Cruz gave catechetical instructions on the family and the Sacrament of Matrimony using multimedia presentations to selected couples most of whom are not yet married in Church.

“Being rich is not about how much you have but how much you give.”

In the spirit of La Mesa ni Marta, the Daughters of St. Paul invited five couples from Barangay 31 and 35, Pampango, Tacloban City to the FSP convent in the city on the feast of the Divine Mercy, April 12, 2015.

This was followed by a simple lunch provided by the members of the Association of Pauline Cooperators. The Paulines have committed themselves to this regular reach-out activity every second Sunday of the month.

The couples enjoyed the Easter meal, much like the disciples who recognized the Resurrected Master when he shared their meal and broke bread with them.
