To conclude this year’s Initial Formation Pauline Month activities, the pre-postulants, postulants, novices, juniors, and their formators spent two weeks of mission from May 19-25, 2015 at the Nuestra Senora dela Assuncion Parish, Bulakan, Bulacan. This is in response to the request of Rev. Fr. Manny Manicad, parish priest, to visit the families for the re-establishment of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) in the parish.
The said mission focused on the theme: “Parokya natin, sama-sama tayong mag-akayan sa Taon ng mga Dukha. Lahat-kasali, kasali-lahat, kaisa ng Birheng Maria Iniakyat sa Langit.” True to Pope Francis’ call this Year of the Poor, the missionaries gave much priority to visit the poor, and those who no longer go the church. Indeed, those who are at the peripheries! They were given proper reminders and were encouraged by the sisters to once again renew their faith and to actively participate in the church’s activities and mission.
The Pauline missionaries were scattered by clusters throughout the whole community. They went around the area to visit families, teach catechism to children, and basic bible animation for adults to prepare them for BEC. Most of the families visited expressed their gratitude to the missionaries for bringing to their homes the Word of God, an appropriate reminder especially for those who no longer value the Word of God and their Catholic faith. A good number of copies of sponsored bibles and catechism and value formation books were also distributed to the families visited during the mission.
