Caceres, NAGA: Giving Wings to the Word (Bible Mission)

he Daughters of St. Paul in Naga City once again conducted Bible missions to the far flung parish of Mystical Rose in Antipolo, Tinambac, Camarines Sur on May 23, 2015 and to two parishes in the mountainous region of the Archdiocese of Caceres: the Holy Family Parish in Sagrada, Tinambac and St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, in San Vicente, Buhi on May 24 and May 30 respectively.

The untiring and passionate Sr. Estela Angeles, FSP was the main speaker. Since the parishes of Mystical Rose and Holy Family are really so far from Naga City, Sr. Lou & Sr. Estela planned to just stay in one of the parishes and proceed to the other parish the next day. But due to unforeseen sickness of one elderly community member, Sr. Lou had to go back to Naga City to bring the ailing sister to Manila. Sr. Estela was then left alone to conduct the Bible Mission in these two parishes. The usual means of transportation in this barangay is “door-to-door,” that is, Sr. Estela has to ride a motorcycle in order to reach the Parish of Our Lady of Mystical Rose passing through a rocky road. It’s good that the driver of the motorcycle is one of the participants in the Bible mission in Holy Family Parish so she just told him to drive slowly and carefully.

The roads to the Parish of St. Vincent Ferrer are cemented to a certain point. The parish priest picked the sisters up from the main highway as they travelled another stretch of rocky roads. Nevertheless, the Word of God cannot be hindered by difficulties. The sisters had to give it feet and wings that it may reach the people longing for it.

The participants of the Bible mission in the three parishes received the Bicol Bible with so much joy and reverence. One of the participants from St. Vincent Ferrer Parish expressed that after attending the Basic Bible Seminar, she vowed to devote time to reading and studying the Bible which she had neglected in the past. Her words eased our fatigue and gave much joy to the heart of the missionaries.
