SARAWAK, Malaysia: Sr. Roseling Siaw Chen makes perpetual vows

Sr. Roseling Siaw Chen made her perpetual religious profession on June 30, 2015 at St. Mark’s Church in Kuching, Sarawak in the presence of Sr. Noemi Vinoya, FSP Provincial Superior. Presiding over the celebration was Most Rev. John Ha Tiong Hock, Archbishop of Kuching, with 18 other priests concelebrating.

The Archbishop and the priests of Kuching are very supportive of the Pauline mission. In his homily, Archbishop John Ha said that he is happy that there are already two Daughters of St. Pauls from Kuching. He hopes that in the near future, there will be other vocations to follow suit.

Two months earlier, the Srs. Chris, Jenny and Bibi, from the community of Sabah, organized a six-week-family visitation mission in preparation for the perpetual profession of Sr. Roseling. The theme for the Mission was The Bible – the Word of God and the Family. Since the FSPs do not have a community in Sarawak yet, the purpose of the mission was to create awareness among the people of Sarawak about the existence of the congregation and its mission. At the same time, to get to know people in the parish so they can participate at the perpetual profession.

Sr. Roseling is the second Daughter of St. Paul from Kuching, Sarawak after Sr. Christine, who made her profession in 1998.  The sisters hope that by having the profession in the local church it would also promote vocations.

Many parishioners and those the sisters met during the home visits attended the profession. The Franciscan sisters of Sarawak, the only local congregation of Sarawak, came in full force to support the sisters, as well as some Pauline Cooperators and friends from Sabah.
