Paulines join Manila International Book Fair

Paulines Publishing House joined the more than 200 exhibitors in the recently-concluded Manila International Book Fair held at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, September 11–15, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The four-decade strong and biggest book fair in the country were participated by both local and foreign publishers and booksellers, including the Asian Catholic Communicators, Inc. (ACCI) – a group of Catholic publishers, where Paulines is a member.

The event started with a Eucharistic Celebration with Pauline Sisters as choir. The first day’s main event was the 13th Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards organized by the ACCI. This year, the book of Bishop Broderick Pabillo “50 Tanong at Sagot Sa Biblia”published by Paulines was among the finalists in Theology Category.

As expected the book fair gathered educators, students, book enthusiasts, religious institutions, book lovers of all ages and people from different walks of life. The five-day event was heaven-sent for bookworms and book hoarders as well, where they found every topic they were looking for from both local and international publishers. The book fair also offered plenty of activities such as book signing, launching of new titles, lectures, workshops and storytelling sessions, Fandom Fest, Bible Quiz and others.

Sr. Bernardita Dianzon, FSP had the book signing of her newly-released Gospel Power 2020at the Paulines booth. Fr. Reynald Atienza also came for the signing of his book ‘Bes, Tawag Ka ni God!’– the third in a series that caters to the youth. Many people were looking forward for these best seller titles from Paulines Publication.

With books at discounted prices and over 450 booths to visit, the halls were crowded including our booth. People flocked to our booth to avail our offer of ‘Five Titles for Only P100.00’, and other discounted items, as well as newly-released titles especially for the Youth like “Pictures of Me,” “What Teens Want You to Know But Won’t Tell You,” “How to Be a Hero”and “Bes, Tawag Ka ni God!”

The Manila International Book Fair was also a venue to meet some authors who shared their insights on writings, book dealers, and future collaborators in our apostolate. As apostles of social communication the challenge is always before us on how to respond to the fast-changing world of print media and the increasing demands for creativity and capability in responding to the audience of our apostolate especially in the digital world of the new generation. – Sr. Nema H.
