A hundred and fifty young people participated in a youth event dubbed “ENJOY” (Encounter and Jamming of Youth) held at the Daughters of St. Paul’s Alberione Auditorium, 10 November 2019.
Themed “Encountering Jesus in one another” the youth gathering was spearheaded by the Paulines Communication in Asia, in collaboration with the Provincial Government, Management Team and Vocational Youth Ministry to mark the culmination of the Year of the Youth.
The young people came from different schools in Pasay City and Olongapo City. Other participants were the groups of children organized by Sr. Evangelina Canag, FSP. The Youth for Christ of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and some Junior-professed of the Society of St. Paul were also invited to lead the praising and coordinate the games, respectively.
John Rustin G. Martin, and Marvin O. Posillo, Youth Ministers of the Archdiocese of Manila, acted as emcees during the four-hour program. The songs of praise performed by the Youth for Christ band, as well as dances, and games facilitated by the SSP Juniors animated everyone. Some youth also participated in a sharing session regarding their experiences of being wounded and healed, lost and found, and not praying to prayerful.
Jamela Dabuet, 22 year-old young lady and guest sharer, admitted to participants her negligence of her spiritual life for a long time. Once an unchurched baptized Catholic, who neither prayed nor read a Bible, she had considered herself as an atheist. She never knew Jesus until somebody invited her to attend a prayer meeting. It was there that she found Jesus, she said. From being a lost child of God, she now commits herself as a Youth Minister of the Ligaya ng Panginoon Community.
Aside from enjoying one another’s presence, the young people also acknowledged the joyful countenance of the Sisters who jammed with them during the event. Little they knew that in their testimonies of life and simplicity in expressing themselves during the event, the Sisters felt more blessed encountering in them the living Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. – Sr. Gemmaria Dela Cruz, FSP
