Nelson de Castro Magnaye is a licensed dentist by profession. He obtained his degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine from Southwestern University in Cebu City in 1988.  A team-building facilitator and resource speaker of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA), his practice of dentistry however, was only one of the “stopovers” in his journey. From 2000 to 2006, he took seminary formation at the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament. He earned his Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry major in Family Ministry and Counseling in 2007 at the Loyola School of Theology – Center for Family Ministries (CEFAM) of Ateneo de Manila University. He was recollection/retreat facilitator at De la Salle University from 2007-2017. In 2016, he was conferred a Gawad Lasalyano Award for Partner in Lasallian Formation. Currently a guidance advocate at the Ateneo de Davao University, Magnaye also writes a column for the Davao Catholic Herald and speaks on the topic of mental health and spirituality.
