FSPs Participate in Pinoy Media Congress 2010

Sisters Consolata Manding, Consolacion Ducusin, Aida Adriano, Lina Salazar, Pinky Barrientos, Praxedes Paloma, Melba Grace Lobaton and Tess Espina participated in the 5th Pinoy Media Congress on February 4-5, 2010 at Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Organized by the Philippine Association of Communication Educators Foundations (PACE) and ABS-CBN, this event is a venue for dialogue among students, communicators and media practitioners on various aspects of media and relevant issues.

This year’s Pinoy Media Congress’ theme: “Politics, Media and Citizenship” is significant because it coincided with the country’s upcoming first automated elections. The sessions explored on political advertising, news exposure, political knowledge and participation, measuring public opinion, code of ethics in news gathering, citizen journalism, political advocacy, presidential profile, corporate social responsibility, ratings 101, and dialogue with ABS-CBN top management. The topics helped the participants become more aware of the electoral process and challenged them to take an active role in ensuring clean and honest elections.

Presidentiables Richard Gordon, Eddie Villanueva and Mr. Perlas shared with the assembly their flatforms on education, peace and order in Mindanao, how to eradicate poverty and corruption.

The Pinoy Media Congress was participated by 1,200 students and teachers of Communication Arts and Mass Communication from 62 colleges and universities in Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
