Legazpi community launched Diamond Jubilee project: Biblia sa Bawat Pamilya

August 23, 2012. – The community of the Daughters of St. Paul in Legazpi launched the diamond jubilee project of the Philippines-Malaysia-PNG-Thailand Province “Biblia sa Bawat Pamilya.” Sr. Precy, the outgoing Superior of the community organized the Bible seminar and Bible giving in three places in coordination with its respective parish priest.

The first parish they visited was the Parish of St. Bonaventure in Butag, Bulan, Sorsogon. The parish priest, Fr. Antonio Sardo, Jr. accompanied the sisters in one of the barangays in coastal area where there are 45 families residing.

Climbing the hills, the Sisters together with the priest, some lay leaders and choir members reached the newly built chapel where the people were already waiting for them. Sr. Precy, Sr. Meden and Sr. Yoyo, took turns in giving animation regarding the Word of God. The talk was followed by the Eucharistic celebration and the blessing of the Bibles. With great joy and gratitude every family received a copy of the Bible.

Right after the Bible giving there was a very touching scene; a manifestation of the faith of the community; all of them, together with the priest and Sisters were going down the hill to do the bible enthronement in their homes. Fr. Tony himself, led the rite for the Bible enthronement.

The priest will begin the Basic Ecclesial Community in this place. The people are open to learn more about God and to live their Christian life better through Bible study and Bible sharing.

The Bible mission was culminated by a simple meal in the chapel on top of the hill overlooking the sea and the mountains of Bulan, Sorsogon. The people expressed their gratitude and joy that in this beautiful place they are blessed by the Lord as they received his Word.

The following day, the Sisters return to the province of Sorsogon, this time in Castilla. Fr. Benedicto Furo the parish priest of St. John the Baptist parish led the Sisters in Nasipit Island for the Bible mission. They crossed the very serene and beautiful lake and climb to the top of the hills to reach the chapel wherein the people welcomed them with joy.

The mission began with the Bible enthronement in the chapel led by Fr. Benny. After the Bibles were blessed, they were given to the families present on this occasion. The Sisters gave an introductory talk on the Bible, followed by a short talk of their parish priest. In their generosity the leaders of the community offered snacks to everyone. The Sisters left the place with gratitude and hope that the seed of the Word will bloom and grow in this community of simple farmers and fisher folks with the help of the parish priest and lay leaders.

Crossing again the lake, Fr. Benny and the Sisters reached the mainland and proceeded to Our Lady of Fatima chapel, Patulba, San Isidro, Castilla. The enthusiasm and zeal of the Sisters to bring the word to the people was heightened when they saw the people happily waiting in the kiosk beside the chapel. What was done in the first barangay was repeated in this place. It can be seen in the faces of the people their joy to receive the Bible. After the animation, the priest encouraged them to come to the parish church where he conducts Bible study in preparation for the Bible quiz organized by the Diocese of Sorsogon under Bishop Arturo Bastes, SVD, DD.

With every family in this area having a copy of the Bible, they now have the opportunity to actively participate in the Bible sharing led by the leader on Bible ministry.
