The Daughters of St. Paul attended the Pinoy Media Congress Year 6 held at the University of Santo Tomas last February 22-23, 2011. With the theme “Engaging People and Media Participation for Change,” the assembly was participated by more than 700 communication students and teachers nationwide.
ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management head Robert Labayen reminded the assembly to be sensitive about the feelings and sensibilities of the public, “inspire people to be their best by touching their hearts.” The popular Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko, station ID and the Bagong Simula, music video showed how communicators can give hope in times of distress and turmoil. He pointed out that the Internet and cellphones play key roles in projects such as Boto Mo, Ipatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula ng Pagbabago and the No to Mining in Palawan signature campaign.
The speakers told the assembly that the most powerful instrument is oneself, so they encouraged the assembly to continue learning, to listen to their audience and to uphold integrity at work. Pinoy Media Congress is organized yearly by ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE).
