On September 28, 2013, the Feast of St. Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila, Fr. Raphael Jose Tolentino, the parish priest of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Concepcion, Sariaya, Quezon invited the Daughters of St. Paul to integrate our Bible Mission with their celebration of the Third Munting Sambayanang Kristiyano (MSK) General Assembly. There were 199 members of the MSK and around 40 active youth of the parish who attended the occasion.
The first hour of the day was given to the Daughters of St. Paul. We were given time to introduce ourselves, the Congregation and the reason why we were in their parish that day. The assembly was informed of the 75th anniversary of foundation of the Daughters of St. Paul in the Philippines and its projects, particularly the Bible Mission or the “Biblia sa Bawat Pamilya”. The Sisters talked about the need to read, reflect and live the Word and it was tied up with the goal of the Year of Faith and The New Evangelization. They were very happy to hear about this project. Since they are members of the MSK, many of them took their own copies of the Bible.
The Sisters were also asked by the organizers of the MSK Assembly to be the judges of the St. Lorenzo Ruiz drawing contest. At the end of the celebration, Fr. Raphael announced which Barangays would be visited by the Daughters of St. Paul on the following day.
The Sisters were sent separately to different places on the next day for the Bible Seminar and mission. Five Sisters went to Mt. Banahaw for a home to home visit bringing copies of Bible with them. The people were very happy because this was the first time that a group of missionary sisters visited their place, and secondly, they got a copy of a Bible. The active lay leaders resolved to start a group of people for the Bible sharing which eventually could become a Munting Sambayanang Kristiyano.
