Eighteen (18) Sisters working in radio, TV, print, audio-visuals, Information technology, Archdiocesan Social Communication Commission, and Pastoral Involvement and Media Literacy Education gathered for the 3rd FSP Media Practitioners’ Assembly in Pasay last April 5-7, 20011 with Sr. Consolata Manding, FSP, as the resource speaker.
With the theme: “Truth, Proclamation and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age,” (Message of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for the 45th World Communications Day), Sr. Manding, underlined the importance of the Culture of Communication which is no other than the way of life influenced and conditioned by what mass media and new media offer. The Culture of Communication aims communion which include the elements of sender, medium, receiver, feedback, and noise. The challenge lies beyond in the degree of noise that runs in the process much more in the post modern technology may it be interpersonal, group and organizational communication. Effective proclamation of the message can only be obtained by a truthful and authentic presentation of oneself. The theme was deepened by the movie entitled “Blind Side” which depicts he remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him develop his potentials and fulfill his dreams.
The assembly evaluated and updated the Media Practitioners’ Organizational Planning Strategies (OPS) and carried out workable strategies for the apostolate.
